Connect to the MCP server

The easiest way to set this up is from inside Speedtrain. On every page, click the Use Speedtrain in Claude bubble in the bottom-right corner. It shows the steps for your setup and gives you links and commands you can copy. The connector URL is:

Use this for Claude Desktop, claude.ai, and the Claude mobile apps. You sign in with your Speedtrain account. You don’t need an API key.

Open connectors

Open Customize → Connectors. In Claude Desktop, go to your profile → Customize → Connectors.

Add a custom connector

Click + and choose Add custom connector.

Paste the URL

Paste https://mcp.speedtrain.ai and click Add.

Your chat history, projects, and tools then work the same on desktop, web, and mobile.

Run this command:

claude mcp add --transport http speedtrain https://mcp.speedtrain.ai

Then run /mcp in Claude Code, select speedtrain, and sign in with your Speedtrain account.

Use an access token only when you can’t sign in yourself — for example, in a CI pipeline or on a server. For Claude and other AI clients, use sign-in instead. With sign-in, there is no key to copy, rotate, or leak.

Create a token

Go to Settings → Access tokens, click Create token, and give it a name.

Store it

Copy the token and store it in your secret manager or an environment variable.

Send it with your requests

Send the token in the X-Api-Key header with your requests to https://mcp.speedtrain.ai.

Config formats differ a little between MCP clients, so check your client’s docs.With Claude Code:

Access tokens are not management clients. A management client key is for ingesting documents into an index. It does not connect to the MCP server.

After you connect
